“The story of designers Alberto Basaglia and Natalia Rota Nodari began with YDF in 1998. They, at twenty-eight, along with us, at twenty-five, embarked on the ‘Young Designer Factory’ adventure. Exceptional specialization in metalworking with a meticulous attention to detail and the small internal painting. These were the elements of our brand that inspired their first collections. From the very beginning, YDF was all about ‘Color’ during a time when design was identified with minimalist gray. Every single YDF product by Alberto and Natalia was designed and built to adapt to the available machinery and to express the artisanal mastery of our company. Looking back at the early catalogs, we are amazed at how current the products Didi, Margherita, Camilla, Antennati are, and later, thanks to a five-axis mill and laser cutting, came Riccardo, Monforte, Leonardo, Otto, and Afro. YDF set the foundation for a working method that the designers never abandoned: creating a brand, thinking about a product collection, engineering them, designing the graphics and catalogs, managing communication, and planning the installations: it all began with YDF.”
